Information/Supply List
A cutter quilt (a new or vintage quilt you don’t mind cutting up, or a quilt with holes in it that needs a
second life) OR an inexpensive bedspread from the discount store. DO NOT TRY TO USE A
COMFORTER.
6-7 yards of coordinating binding (bias optional)
Four large buttons or snaps, optional
(The pattern calls for interfacing and lining, and we will not use either of these.)
General Sewing Notions: scissors, snips, rotary cutter and ruler (long rulers are helpful), seam
ripper, coordinating or neutral polyester thread, extra (wound) bobbins, marking pencil or chalk,
pins or clips

We will have three irons and ironing boards for your use. Bring your project iron and mat if you
would like.

Sewing Machine (power cord and foot pedal!!)
Extra machine needles (heavy duty, jeans or size 14 recommended)
Hand sewing needle, optional
Measuring tape
Paper scissors
Notepad/pencil
Hem guide, optional
Pattern weights (big washers and leftover tiles work great), optional

We will have a few large cutting mats; you can bring your own if you prefer. The more cutting mats,
the faster we can move through the process.

If you would like to make a mock-up before you cut out your coat, you will need at least two yards of
muslin or any fabric you don’t love anymore that’s been hanging around in your stash for too long. A
solid light color works best.

A truly queen-size quilt should work for ANY size coat.

If you want to play it safe and not cut up a sentimental quilt, 4 7⁄8 yards of 44/45” QUILTED FABRIC
will make the longest coat in the largest size. You would need 3 1⁄2 yards at 60” wide. Cheater prints
make really cute coats without all the work! I do recommend extra fabric for pattern matching.

Even if you have never done any garment sewing, YOU CAN MAKE THIS COAT!! (As long as you can
sew. Bonus points if you can cut out a pattern.)
